FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How to Care for Your Wood Watch?

With proper care, your wood watch can be worn for many years.  All our wood watches have been carefully oiled numerous times to bring out each wood's rich color. In fact, the interaction of the wood with your natural skin oil creates an even luster look.  Overtime, your wood watch will get a rich patina that brings the beauty of each wood.  There is not a need to polish your watch.  Polishing can actually get into the crown of the watch and may affect its movement. Therefore, you can save the polishing and enjoy wearing your watch.

How long will the battery last?

The battery needs to be replaced after 1-2 years of use, just like any quartz watch. Simply take the wood watch to any watch repair shop that replaces batteries. Do not try to replace the battery yourself. All the batteries look the same and a watch needs just the right size.

Awareness on Humidity.

Bean & Vanilla only use the finest woods. However, please keep in mind that the materials used are organic materials. The biggest enemy of wood is sudden change in temperature and humidity. This means that if you leave your watch in a car on a hot sunny day, the high temperature may cause the wood to swell and may cause it to crack.  The same goes with leaving it in the car on a particularly cold day or night, the cold temperature may shrink the wood, putting pressure against the glass and pins and may cause breakage at those points.  Humidity control is one of the most important precaution to ensure your wood watch will serve you for many years.

Are The Wood Watch Water Proof?

Please keep in mind, these woods have no additional protection such as resin or any kind of coating with exception to oil. Therefore, they are not water proof.  They should not be submerged under water because wood is an organic material that will be affected if immersed in water.  Please do not swim or shower while wearing your wood watch. Granted, some of the movements in wood watches are water proof, but the wood links on the bands generally are not. However, these wood watches are splash resistant.  Therefore, you do not have to worry if you for a sudden rain and or washing your hands.
